Duterte napahanga sa ginawang pagpapakumbaba ni North Korean leader Kim Jong Un

After the whole world recently witnessed a history unfold during the meeting of North and South Korean leaders Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-in, President Rodrigo Duterte could not help but admire the North Korean leader who has always been perceived as a bad guy.

During a press conference at Davao International Airport upon his arrival from Singapore, Duterte expressed his admiration for Kim who initiated to denuclearize the Korean peninsula.

“Naging idol ko tuloy siya, [si] Kim Jong Un. For all of the time, he was pictured to be the bad boy of the community,” the President said.

“But with one master stroke, he is now the hero of everybody. He appear(s) to be amiable, jolly good fellow, and very accommodating,” he added.

Aside from earning his respect, Duterte also hopes to meet Kim one day to personally congratulate him on such heroic move.

“So I think … the man of the hour would be Kim Jong Un. And someday, if I get to meet him, I’d like to congratulate him,” Duterte said.

“Sabihin ko sa kanya, ‘bilib ako sa’yo. Marunong ka mag-timing.’ Kaya heroism is sometimes left to chance, otherwise it’s purposely timed,” he added.

The President is also looking forward that Kim would befriend him to promote peace and avoid further conflicts among Asian countries.

“Ituring na lang niya akong isang kaibigan because this will promote — the impact is really, there is less stress now in the Korean Peninsula. And maybe, just maybe, we can avoid a war which nobody can win anyway,” he said.

It could be recalled that the North Korean leader also received a lash from the tough-talking Philippine president in the past calling him “tarantado” and “buang” after Kim threatens to trigger a nuclear war against the South, United States, and Japan.
