Last week, the last batch of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who availed the Kuwaiti government’s amnesty program was successfully repatriated back to the Philippines, thanks to the combined efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippine Overseas Labor & Office, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Since the program was implemented, a total of 5,066 OFWs were assisted by the Duterte administration to fly back to the Philippines.
But despite the government’s effort, a lot of Filipino domestic helpers are still left in distressed suffering at the hands of their abusive employers.
Just like OFW and Facebook user “Ako C Tonne Mo” who took to social media to plead for her immediate rescue as she already fears for her life after her female employer threatened to kill her.
In a video message, she said that her employer’s son handed her a Hadiya or cash gift as a sign of goodwill since he is also giving her tasks at home. When the mother found out about it, she confiscated the Hadiya from her.

The following day, the son asked her a favor and reminded her about the Hadiya he gave when she revealed that his mother confiscated it, the son got mad leading for the two to argue and broke a mirror inside the house.
After the argument, her employer got furious and went to her bedroom carrying a piece of the broken mirror and a blade. She thought her employer will injure her using the sharp objects, but instead, just locked her in her bedroom.
The distressed OFW is pleading the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait for her immediate rescue as she now fears for her life. She is frightened that her employer might kill her especially when her male employer came back from vacation.
